Who can access support at NIȽ TU,O?
NIȽ TU,O offers confidential and culturally-centered services to Beecher Bay/ Scia’new, Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Songhees, Tsawout, Tseycum and T’Sou-ke communities and affiliated families free of charge.
Recognizing the destructive history of the colonial care system, NIȽ TU,O’s programs are deliberately culturally-centered and rooted in Coast Salish definitions of care.
Through these services, NIȽ TU,O has worked to keep Coast Salish children in the community and out of the colonial foster care system since 1997.
NIȽ TU,O offers both comprehensive support for families entangled with the colonial care system and preventative supports to proactively build strong, healthy Coast Salish families and youth.
Available Support Services include Guardianship, Voluntary Support Service, Voluntary or Special Needs Agreements, Youth Agreements, Extended Family Programs, and Agreements with Young Adults. These services have been delegated to NIȽ TU,O by the Ministry of Child & Family Development.
