NIȽ TU,O Child and Family Services launched its annual Ice Cream Meet and Greet series with a fun event for the T’Sou-ke community on May 17th,.

This is the 2nd year that NIȽ TU,O will hosts Ice Cream Meet & Greets in each of the communities it serves…Beecher Bay, Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Songhees, Tsawout, Tseycum and T’Sou-ke. During the Meet & Greets, community members of all ages gather to enjoy free ice cream and popsicles, have access to information about the many programs and services NIL TU,O provides, enjoy crafts, and soak up the sun.

This year, Meet & Greet attendees ages 3-19 can also create and submit entries for NIȽ TU,O’s 2024 Youth Art Contest. This year’s contest themes include language, plants, moons, the land, and family. Winners will take home prizes and have the submitted artwork featured in NIȽ TU,O’s upcoming 2025 calendar. In addition to fun and games, the Meet & Greets provide community members with the chance to meet NIȽ TU,O Family Support Workers and learn about the ways NIȽ TU,O supports communities and youth as well as how to become a caregiver for the community’s youth.

The first of the 2024 Meet & Greets was a resounding success. From 1:00 to 3:00 PM on May 17th, T’Sou-ke community members of all ages gathered at the Health Building to enjoy free ice cream and spring fun alongside NIȽ TU,O’s Family Support Workers. Adding to the fun, the event included a raffle with two winners. One winner walked away with a $250 grocery gift card; the other won a portable air conditioner.

NIȽ TU,O looks forward to holding Ice Cream Meet & Greets throughout the summer in the Beecher Bay, Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Songhees, Tsawout, and Tseycum communities.
